Virtual MOCA: Giving Tuesday

Virtual

MOCA will share ways that we can come together to support our communities in need every Tuesday via our social media channels. Whether renewing your membership, ordering delivery from local independent businesses, or donating goods and services to those that could use it the most, Giving Tuesday will highlight ways we can all help sustain and strengthen our communities.

This Tuesday is the day to celebrate the work of nurses and other health workers, and remind world leaders of the critical role they play in keeping the world healthy. As part of #WorldHealthDay2020, MOCA highlights the health workers who are at the forefront of COVID-19 response–providing high quality, respectful treatment and care, leading community dialogue to address fears and questions and, in some instances, collecting data for clinical studies. Quite simply, without nurses, there would be no response. Here are some ways in which you can support these essential, frontline workers:

  • Thank your health workers: Take a moment to thank them and show them your appreciation. Share a photo or video explaining why their work is vital. Use #SupportNursesAndMidwives and tag @who (World Health Organization) when sharing to help spread this message.
  • Donate your personal protective equipment (PPE): the surge in the number of COVID-19 cases in the United States is straining the supply of PPE for hospitals across the country. Local communities can help these hospitals and healthcare professionals with their donations. Visit Donate PPE for a list of hospitals in SoCal who are currently accepting donations.
  • Feed the Los Angeles heroes in healthcare (while also supporting restaurant workers!): Dine 11 (@dineoneone) has teamed up with some of the best local chefs and beloved restaurants to feed the hard working medical professionals on the front lines during this pandemic.
